As the cooler weather sets in, November's birthstones bring warmth and good fortune for the upcoming winter months. It is believed that both citrine and turquoise bring a tranquil, warm energy imparting prosperity and protection to the wearer.
A transparent yellow to brownish orange variety of quartz, Citrine has been used in jewelry for thousands of years. This November birthstone is more rarely seen in it's naturally formed color, a very faint yellow or orange-yellow hue. Often used as a manifestation stone, it is believed to elevate optimism and energy to a place more able to embrace creativity and accept opportunity.
Turquoise, the captivating blue-green stone of the ancients, was thought to possess many beneficial powers, like guaranteeing health, hope and luck. The Apache thought turquoise could be found by following a rainbow to its end. Hindu mystics maintained that seeing a turquoise after beholding the new moon ensured fantastic wealth. Turquoise is considered a national treasure in Tibet, where it is believed to grant health, good fortune and protection from evil.
