Deco and Diamonds in Tulsa
The rich Art Deco architecture of Tulsa inspired me to believe in the power of art and design. Celebrating this heritage is an opportunity to revel in the opulence and aspirations of Art Deco. We all have big dreams and hopes for a better tomorrow. That is what Art Deco beckons from us, ideas that reach for the sky while we dance here on earth in all our beauty.
I will be celebrating Art Deco month with my own special event Friday, April 19th at my studio just west of downtown on Charles Page Blvd. I will share the sources of inspiration from my own Art Deco collection of fine jewelry and host other organizations that so nicely highlight and uplift Art Deco architecture - Tulsa Foundation for Architecture, Goff Fest and Tulsa Tours.
I will be bringing in some very special diamonds with unique Art Deco cuts and releasing a few new Art Deco pieces. Diamonds are a wonderful symbol of the aspirational spirit of Art Deco. The most durable material on earth, hard and unrelenting, they are also fabulous and beautiful to behold in the hands of skilled craftsmen. Like Art Deco buildings, diamonds are more than just material beauty, they are symbols of what we dream of, everlasting love, wealth and abundance. The opulence of the Art Deco era sparkles and shines, joy and exuberance are all we have in life. We must enjoy the moment we have and revel in it’s beauty, however fleeting. We know we aren’t here for a long time, but we are here for a good time. That is why Art Deco deserves to be celebrated.
